In a world driven by consumerism, material desires have become tangible markers of value. Luxury goods are no longer just products; they represent status and shared fantasies of desire. Yet, behind the allure of these items lies an often-overlooked reality—the elaborate packaging that signifies their prestige inevitably transforms into waste, burdening the environment. This tension between excess and value forms the foundation of “Trash Bags”.

This series draws inspiration from luxury brands, reclaiming their discarded packaging to create sculptures that reimagine these materials. By compressing and reshaping these remnants of consumption, the works recreate the forms of luxury bags, forcing us to confront the duality of their existence. What appears opulent and desirable is, in essence, built from what society has already discarded. Through this cyclical transformation of material and meaning, “Trash Bags” challenges the way we perceive value and its intrinsic worth.

By repurposing what was once considered waste, “Trash Bags” pushes us to reconsider the source of value. Is it embedded in the material itself, or is it born from our collective desires? This series interrogates the boundaries between trash and treasure, asking us to reflect on how we define worth in a world obsessed with consumption.

Through this exploration, “Trash Bags” dismantles the myth of value perpetuated by consumer culture, exposing the contradictions at its core. When the line between luxury and waste blurs, we are invited to reevaluate our understanding of value and our role in shaping it.
